Aotea Square, Auckland, New Zealand. The "Ceilidh Under the Stars" produced a great atmosphere - especially when the sun went down. This video captures that magic when we called the dance "The Dashing White Sergeant". The video is from a YouTube post by a member of the audience visiting from Chile!
The Commonwealth Games were held in Glasgow in 2014. To celebrate this, the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society organised for Ceilidhs to take place worldwide at the same local times in each of the Commonwealth countries. So New Zealand would be the first country in the world to have a Ceilidh. We organised one in Waipu and it was a great night which involved many different groups in the community as you can see from this video.
