Da Slockit Light, Tom Anderson.
Last day of April. The nights are getting longer and the light is fading. This tune, Da Slockit Light, by Tom Anderson, influential traditional Shetland fiddler and composer is appropriate. Tom's quote: "In 1969, after 11.00pm, as I looked back at the top of the hill leading out of the district, I saw so few lights compared with what I remembered when I was young. As I watched, the lights started going out one by one. That, coupled with the recent death of my wife, made me think of the old word "slockit", meaning, "a light has gone out".
