WHANGAREI SCOTTISH - A DANCE BY EDDY WEST

Fiona Bullivant, tutor with the Whangarei Scottish Dance Club, decided she would like a group of dancers to make a video of this dance devised by Eddy West.

Eddy was a keen dancer and prolific dance devisor. Many of his dances are loved by New Zealand SCD dancers and some are danced regularly worldwide. This one was especially written for the Whangarei Club and Twisty Willow was delighted to play the music for the clip and film and edit the result.

A BLAST FROM THE PAST

Valentines Day had us reminiscing about earlier days with Twisty Willow.

Here is a digitised version of “My Love is Like a Red Red Rose” by Robbie Burns, from our cassette album, “Tartan” from 1993. It features the lush voice of Jim Cardow and harmonies from Jimmy Bonar. One of the great romantic songs!

No live videos in those days, so it gave us a chance to put together stills from that phase of TW.

WAIPU HIGHLAND GAMES CEILIDH, EVERY DECEMBER 31 (HOGMANAY)

What a great night. Fantastic turn-out. The dance floor was full. Generous supper with haggis ceremony. A fun way to see in the New Year.

Some excerpts from The Dashing White Sergeant.

CELTIC MUSIC WITH A KIWI CONNECTION

A lovely air composed by Joanie Madden of “Cherish the Ladies”, for a New Zealand man who evidently found her missing camera and was able to trace it back to her . . . by linking the license plate number seen in one of her digital pictures back to her aunt and uncle in England, who then sent it back to Joanie in the U.S!

This is our recorded version performed on our upper deck and with some pictures of local hills around Waipu.
